Reusable/washable Masks

Washable Masks for Local Care Home Group BJCC

We are excited to announce that we are working with A is for Alice Costumes, a local business who are working hard to produce 160 washable masks for the Birmingham Jewish Community Care group, thanks to partial funding by the Postcode Local Trust.

This group manages the Andrew Cohen Care home by Riverbrook Drive in Stirchley and right now they are burning through a whopping 200 disposable masks EVERY DAY – and with suppliers running short they are in constant need of replacements.
We are aiming to provide each of thier 80 staff members with at least 2 masks each so that they can wash them and rotate use for each shift with thier on site washing facilities. The masks also come with an internal pocket for an extra insertable layer to help them last longer and stay dry.

These masks designed by A is for Alice Costumes are designed to reduce facial contact and help contain coughs and sneezes in order to minimise virus exposure.
We are also making a minimum of 80 mask adapters (aiming for 160) for every one of these staff members to help alleviate mask pain on thier ears thanks to our ear protector project above.

With this project we are aiming to:

  • Reduce landfill
  • Provide a long term sustainable solution for masks for the BJCC
  • Help protect staff and residents during this crisis
