Description
Forage & Fire
Step into the woods and learn the essential bushcraft skill of fire by starting at the source. On this immersive half-day course, you’ll spend time foraging in local woodlands for natural fibres and tinder materials, discovering what nature provides and how to use it effectively.
You’ll then learn how to create fire using a ferrocerium rod and natural materials, building confidence as you progress through different fire-lighting levels — from cotton and basic tinders through to more challenging natural materials like birch bark and feather sticks.
This is a hands-on, practical course designed to build real skill and understanding, whether you’re lighting your very first fire or refining techniques you already have.
The course runs for up to 4 hours in local woodlands (Stirchley) and is suitable for complete beginners as well as improvers.
As part of the experience, you’ll use both standard ferro rods and our specialised 6-inch hexagonal ferro rod, allowing you to feel the difference in performance. You’ll take the hexagonal ferro rod home with you at the end of the course (current value £10), so you can continue practising long after the day is over.
